Our founder
Jean Renard
Engineer — Founder of the JR group
Thirty years at EDF, then an installation company started in 2016 in Cournon-d'Auvergne. The group that builds and operates power plants now stores the electricity they produce.
Rooftop plant delivered by JR Énergie — Auvergne, France

What came before
You do not design the same way after thirty years of operating the grid.
Before founding JR Énergie, Jean Renard spent most of his career at EDF, the French utility: the grid seen from the inside — generation, balancing, and what a poorly conceived installation costs once it is running.
That is where the group's principle comes from: keep everything in house — design, planning permission, installation, grid connection, operation — so as to stay accountable for the asset after commissioning, not only on the day it is handed over.
The path
From operating the grid to a group that stores.
Before 2016
Thirty years of operations
Engineer, more than thirty years at EDF. The grid seen from the inside: generation, balancing, constraint — and what a poorly designed installation costs once it is running.
2016
JR Énergie, in Cournon-d'Auvergne
A family solar installation company, built on the principle of keeping everything in house: design office, planning permission, installation, grid connection, operation.
Since then
An integrated group
Close to 70 people, more than 1,500 plants in service and 40 MWp installed, from homes to multi-megawatt logistics rooftops — including the largest rooftop plant in the Auvergne region.
Today
JR Batteries
Generating is no longer enough: you have to choose when to deliver. The group that installs and operates takes on storage distribution, with a single manufacturer and a single point of contact.

What comes next
A family company, and a continuity it owns.
JR Énergie began as a family business and has stayed one. Continuity is carried by the team: the same people who built the plants now look after the batteries connected to them.
