RelyEZ reference · Tiné, Chad · 2024

Chad's first lithium microgrid.

In Tiné, a town of more than 60,000 people in eastern Chad, far from any power grid, solar panels, batteries and diesel generators together supply homes, the hospital and schools, day and night. RelyEZ designed and integrated the system.

What it changes

Electricity every day, at any hour.

A whole town supplied

Homes, shops, the hospital, schools and mosques: the microgrid answers the long-standing shortages and unstable supply of this rural region.

Less diesel

The sun and the batteries cover demand: the diesel generators run less, and power stays available around the clock.

Energy produced on site

Local generation that strengthens the region's energy security and supports its development.

How it works

The sun first, the batteries next, diesel as backup.

An energy management system (EMS) decides at every moment where the electricity comes from.

  1. 01

    By day

The panels supply the users; the surplus recharges the batteries.

  2. 02

    Evening and night

The batteries take over when the sun goes down.

  3. 03

    As backup

The diesel generator starts when the batteries are no longer enough.

The system

Four containers, four converters, one brain.

4

Storage containers

1,605 kWh each, air-cooled: a custom configuration close to the GridUltra 2058, with 280 Ah cells.

4

Power converters (PCS)

They connect the batteries to the microgrid: 2.52 MW of power in total.

Energy management system

It controls solar, batteries and the diesel generators in real time.

ADERM as owner, RelyEZ as integrator

The microgrid belongs to ADERM, the Chadian public agency in charge of rural electrification, which operates it. As system integrator, RelyEZ delivered a complete off-grid solution: technical consulting, design, installation guidance, commissioning, team training and long-term operational support.

And for your site

An isolated site, a fragile supply? The same architecture fits.

Wherever the grid does not reach, or cuts out too often, a solar and storage microgrid replaces part of the fuel with electricity produced on site.

  • Villages and rural electrification
  • Mines and quarries
  • Farms and agro-industrial sites
  • Health centres and public services
  • Telecom towers
  • Work camps and construction sites

What we prepare with you

01

Your needs

Consumption, load curve, fuel burned today: the starting point for sizing.

02

The architecture

Solar power, storage capacity, the diesel generator's role: the right balance for your site.

03

The file

A clear technical and economic file to share with your partners: local authority, funder, investor, insurer.

Let's talk about your site.

Tell us about the site, its consumption and today's solution: we come back to you with a first architecture.
